Intro to Copperplate Calligraphy, Part 1 (Lowercase)

The objective of this class is for students to have a confident grasp of the basic tools and the necessary skills they need to continue their lowercase practice at home. This class is for students who want to learn the fundamentals of lowercase Copperplate script.
The class will cover:
  • basic tools
  • key concepts of Copperplate script
  • structure & techniques
  • basic strokes
  • the entire lowercase alphabet
No prior calligraphy experience is required for this class.  This is a great class for beginners and seasoned calligraphers who are looking to refine their Copperplate script.
*All supplies will be provided, however students are more than welcome to bring their own nibs and penholders.

An Introduction to Brush Pen Calligraphy

with Pieces Calligraphy

In this 3.5 hour workshop, you’ll learn and practice all the brush calligraphy basics: How to choose and hold the brush pen, how to connect each stroke deliberately and carefully, and how to use a “critical eye” when evaluating your work.

Envelope Addressing, Placecards, and Holiday Flourishes

with Calligraphy Companion

Saturday, November 12th, 2016 • 10:00 am – 1:00 pm

In this class, Nina and Grace of Calligraphy Companion will be showing you how to address and flourish envelopes and write placecards just in time for the holidays!  You will learn how to line envelopes and use a lightpad, mix gouache, and draw decorative flourishes around your envelope and placecards.

Each student will receive a kit with a couple of envelopes, a set of placecards, and a sample of some of our favorite inks.No prior experience needed.
You will need a penholder (oblique and/or straight) and nibs for this class.
