October 12th • 1-4 pm
Copperplate Bootcamp: How to Practice and Refine Your Script
In this class, we'll dive deep into the fundamental concepts of Copperplate script. We'll learn how to study the letters and how we can optimize our practice to yield more consistent letterforms. We will begin by reviewing the fundamental concepts of Copperplate script: proportions, slant, shade, ovals, counter spaces etc... Then, we will learn how to analyze script. Finally, we will learn sets of drills that we can implement into our regular practice to help us create more uniform letters. Learning calligraphy isn't just about being able to write with our hands; it's also about understanding what we see with our eyes.
