DIY: Dip Dye Ombre Napkins
Today’s DIY is so fun! I love getting my hands a little dirty and this dip dyeing process is just the thing. And we think they turned out so cute! See below for the simple instructions…
We used Rit Dye in both liquid and powder forms. Follow the instructions on the dye for the amount of fabric you have and add a few pumps of dish soap to your hot water.
1. Add the dye to your hot water and soap mixture. The more dye you add the brighter your color will be. 2. Mix the dye into the water, making sure it is evenly distributed, especially with the powder form of dye.
3. Dip your napkin or cloth into the dye bath about half way. Let it sit in the bath for about 10 minutes. 4. Pull your napkin out a few inches and leave the rest sitting in the dye for another 30 mins. 5. Pull your napkin out a few more inches and leave in the dye for another 30 mins. This creates the ombre effect.
Hang your napkins out to dry in the sun and make sure to wash them before use (so they do not get dye on your guests!).
We also tried dyeing our cotton drawstring bags and they turned out pretty cute!
Check back tomorrow to see our dip dye napkins in use…
